Happiness Project : Week 19 and 20

It is the 20th week of my “Happiness Project” and I am happy with the direction I am going.  I feel like I accomplished a lot over the past two weeks.  Last weekend I successfully completed my Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor Course and can now teach Lifeguard, CPR, First Aid, and AED courses in addition to other safety classes.  I am glad that I made the added effort and payed the price to make this happen.  I was an LGI back in Highschool and taught a bunch of lifeguard courses.  I never wanted my certification to lapse, but it did when I moved to Cali and was not allowed to go near a pool.

Now I can pick up where I left off and learn new skills.  I can even take things a couple of steps further if I so desire.

Having a shorter break at work from the pool is wearing on me.  Nearly 8 straight hours is too long to stay in a chlorinated environment even if the ventilation is better than most.  I will continue to give everything my best and keep learning and growing while I’m there.  I like to say:  “When you stop growing it is time to get going!”

This May I have been “finding fun” in the form of dance.  I decided that I would never again let a relationship or busy work schedule keep me from my workouts and dancing.  Dancing more has reminded me how to  “be free-spirited.”  We opened up the outdoor swimming pool and that has helped me to “go off the path” and get sunkissed at the same time since not everyone chooses to swim.

I have my 1st half-marathon in August to train for so I better get serious about that this week!  So much to look forward to and loving the journey.  We are flying through may and before we know it it will be June.  Don’t let time pass you by!
