When I Wake Up…

What is the first thing you do every single day (I mean, after you hit the snooze button)? When did that step in your routine begin?

Whenever I wake up, I say a prayer.  I thank God for a restful night and I ask for guidance throughout my day.  I also pray for Christopher, my friends, and family.  I open our bedroom door and I am greeted by my beautiful kitten Alleyjandra.  She sees me and immediately starts purring and meowing hopping about and following me wherever I go.  We head downstairs and I fill my hot pot and press the button to boil water for tea.  I gather the contents of my lunch then head back upstairs (trailed by Alleyjandra) and get ready for my day.  Right before I leave, I kiss Christopher goodbye then head out to face the world.

This morning routine started back in September when I began my new job at the high school.  The early mornings were an adjustment for me, but I believe I am getting the hang of it!  In the future, I plan to get to bed earlier and get an even earlier start.  Ideally I would love to even fit in a workout before work since I haven’t established a solid workout routine yet.

My very BEST morning routine was the summer before this past summer.  I would wake up quickly, say a quick prayer, then I had this routine with the foam roller that helped energize me.  I would do a morning workout then take an icy cold shower.  Followed by a smoothie or breakfast.  Throughout that time, I felt like I was at my fittest and healthiest.  Someday I will get back into a routine like that.

Today was not bad for a Monday!  I am looking forward to see what this week has in store!
