2016 Transform Your Life Project:

For the past few years I have done a “Happiness Project” inspired by Gretchen Rubin’s book “The Happiness Project.”  My projects in 2013 and 2014 were both incomplete attempts.  I gave it a 3rd try this past year in 2015 and I believe that this was my most successful “Happiness Project.”  I set areas of focus/goals every month and made an effort to write a weekly post summing up the highs and lows of my week.

I stuck with it consistently from January thru about March then sporadically posted on the topic.  Even though I didn’t post every single week I still feel good about this past year.

I have gained a lot of insight into what brings me joy and happiness.

I feel very blessed to be in the place that I am in and this year I am going to focus on my health –mental, physical, spiritual, and intellectual.  I also want to create healthier habits.

I also have to admit that the reality of being in my later 20’s has hit me hard and the thought of growing older yet still not completely confident in who I am is scary and I want to do better.

This year I let my health slide a lot.  I went from active every single day, working in a health club to studying computer science and being at a desk more than I ever have in my entire life.  Just this past month my mom had to get a hip replacement and my dad has had to make drastic changes in his diet and nutrition (like completely cutting out sodium).  I want to clean up my health, nutrition, and my act.  My parents are my inspiration and I know that I owe it to myself to take better care of myself.

I am not exactly sure what my plan is for this project, but I know that I want to transform and change and that I will stick with it.  Please join me for this adventure!!!  We can share our highs and lows, workout plans, favorite recipes, yoga poses, meditation, and words of wisdom and inspiration!!!

Here is a rough draft of what I will be doing in 2016:

January: 

Build My Foundation

  • A Girls  gotta get her beauty sleep!(this applies to you guys too!)
  • Eat Clean.
  • Move Your Body!
  • Plan your track and track your plan (keep a food journal)
  • Create a Vision Board
  • Do What you must.
  • Create Healthier Habits.

February:

Focus On Faith

  • Go to church on Sunday.
  • Learn about faith.
  • Count my blessings.

March:

Meditation and Mindfulness

  • Meditate.
  • Breathe Deeply.
  • Practice Yoga.
  • Sing.
  • Begin Spring Cleaning.

April:

Challenge Yourself

  • Do what you must and do it with ALL your heart.
  • Learn a new language and/or expand on what you have learned so far.
  • Train a little harder.
  • Wake up a little earlier for an early start.

May:

Mix It Up!

  • Get creative.
  • Re-organize your life.
  • Paint Something.
  • Do something you’ve never done before.
  • Go on an adventure!

June:

Make Time For Family and Friends

  • Write letters
  • Remember birthdays
  • Be Generous
  • Be Present
  • Don’t Gossip

July:

Love Thyself Then Spread the Love

  • Take time for self-care.
  • Learn to be Confident.
  • Nurture your relationships
  • Seek inspiration
  • De-clutter

August

Remember Love

  • Quit nagging
  • Listen
  • Cultivate healthy relationships
  • No Dumping
  • Give proofs of love

September

Pursue a Passion

  • Create a Bucket list (my year truly begins in the fall)
  • Write a Novel
  • Make time
  • Forget about the results
  • Master a new technology

  • Stimulate the mind in new ways

  • Laugh out loud
  • Use good manners

  • Sleep at night
  • Get an early start

I am excited to begin this new project!  I have been thinking about it for awhile.  I know that I need to make some major changes in my life and I was daunted by the task of planning it out.  I am happy that I was able to write something out in time for the new year!!!  Come join me on this project it will be fun!

For the food journaling / fitness aspect I am using Myfitnesspal and Map My Run to track my workouts, food, and progress.  Send me a comment or message with your user name and I can add you.  We can keep each other accountable and motivated!
