Oops I Forgot the Bananas!

I brewed my green tea and added a spritz of lemon.  Then I made my breakfast smoothie this morning and I was sure that I already had the recipe memorized.

Breakfast smoothie:

  • 1 cup raspberries
  • 1/4 cup spinach
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 tbsp ground Flax
  • 1 tbsp almond butter

Then I realized that I forgot the banana!!!  Oh well, it still tasted delicious!  I will not forget the banana next time!

I use my handy-dandy Nutri-bullet that Christopher gave me for Christmas last year.  (I swear, he gives the BEST gifts ever.  Nutri-bullet last year and this year a new Android phone.)  I love my nurti-bullet because it is so user-friendly.  You just fill it up half-way with greens, add the rest of your ingredients then give it a whirl and your smoothie is complete.  The other beautiful thing about it is that it is easy to clean.  It is just like washing a cup.  A regular blender also works for these smoothies too.

This is the 2nd day of my detox and I feel so energetic and optimistic!  These smoothies are really filling.  The most complicated smoothie to eat and drink would be the lunch smoothie.  It has a lot of extra crunch with all that celery, but the pineapple helps to sweeten it.  Oh, and that half a lime is a bit much, but it will keep you on your toes.  Making sure that you don’t doze off in the middle of the day.  

Who needs coffee when you have a zingy, crunchy smoothie?!?!

I am sure some of you noticed that I did not write my usual “Workout and word of the Day” post last night.   It was actually supposed to be my “rest-day”, but I was still going to take the 7:30 Rizzmic class for cardio.  I got all dressed in my workout clothes and spun my hair into a messy bun, planned out a kettlebell circuit that I was going to do before Rizzmic when I got a phone call around 6:30…

It was Christopher!  He was coming home to surprise me and take me out to dinner and he told me to be ready at 7.  I was super excited about him coming home!  Usually we mainly get to spend the weekends together because he works during the week and I work and go to school full-time.  I had mixed feelings too though because I was all amped up to workout and even considered squeezing in a quickie.  But instead I decided to get all dressed up and put my make-up on.

It was so good to see him.  I deviated from my cleanse a little with dinner, but made a much healthier choice and ate about half as much as I usually would have.

I almost didn’t want to mention my dinner date because I don’t want to seem like a hypocrite, but I do want to be honest with all of you and myself.  In the past I would have seen this as a major derailment and thought, “Oh my gosh!  I broke my cleanse now I have to start all over again.”  But instead I just got back on track today.  I resisted my urge to eat my leftovers for dinner and am going to add an extra day to my detox.  

You see?  It all works out in the end!  You just have to be flexible and willing to go with the flow!
