Transform Your Life Project: Week 5

I am satisfied with this 1st week of February!  I started with  self-care Monday which entailed a massage and an epsom salt bath.  I decided to take the day off from working out because I hoped that it would help the positive effects of the bodywork last longer.  I am not sure if that was the answer because I woke up with a terrible pounding headache on Tuesday that would Not go away.  In fact it intensified when I got home from work that night.  I read that sometimes after a massage you can get mild flu-like symptoms because toxins are being freed.  It could also be that I was dehydrated.

On Tuesday I ran a mile with my high schoolers and it took me 9 minutes.  I was hoping that exercise would help my headache go away.  I got a little relief, but it returned with vengeance.  That evening I tried taking a nap, but that had little affect.  I took an ibuprofen and went to yoga class and that did the trick!  After Yoga I did a resistance training workout then ended the night with Mixxedfit.  I think that my body likes it best when I am active.

I woke up with a headache almost everyday last week so I am not sure what is up.  I also felt pretty exhausted after work.  I think one of my friends made a good point.  I have cut out coffee so maybe/hopefully it is just withdrawals from lack of caffeine.  I am going to make it a point to monitor my lifestyle more closely this week so that I can pinpoint what might be causing those headaches.

It was fitness testing week hence running the mile.  And on Wednesday I did 40 push-ups without stopping and 40 sit-ups in one minute.  I think that gives me a good baseline!  My nutrition was not very good and I made use of the convenience of eating out more than I would like to admit so that is something that I am going to work on this week.

I was a little disappointed with Saturday morning because I had planned on doing Zumba, weightlifting, and Mixxedfit, but I only did Zumba because I was so tired.  I used it as an opportunity to “listen to my body and recover.”  I want to get good at that because I am embracing this healthy lifestyle as a long-term plan.

Today was Absolutely wonderful!  Christopher came home and the sun was shining all day long.  We also got a greenhouse and spent the afternoon assembling it together!  When we first bought the house last spring our very first joint piece of furniture that we purchased was a porch swing!  And now we have our own greenhouse.  I can’t wait to start gardening.  I feel so blessed to be in a wonderful/healthy relationship.  I want to keep learning, growing, and building trust with the man of my dreams.

This month I am going to continue working through my January goals.  In addition I am focusing on faith and finances.  I want to work on strengthening my faith.  I think I have a tendency to stress and worry about things rather than trusting that God has a plan.  I want to work on having more faith in God and also believing in myself and taking responsibility for my life and my actions.  I think it is true that God helps those who help themselves.

I feel like I am on a good track right now with my work and exercise habits.  Now I just want to add in nutrition and studying.

What are your goals for February?  Do you have hott plans for Valentine’s Day?  I think I have a nice long weekend thanks to mid-winter break!

  1. Oh what a fabulous day!! And great goals for February! I do hope your headaches have eased up a bit?? Love the greenhouse (and that swing, lovely)! Is the greenhouse for flowers or food? 😀
