Closet Cleaning

I am currently in that weird space where I already had lunch.  I could workout, but I’m waiting for my friend to let me know what time she wants to meet for a walk.  I should study, but I am way too restless to sit still and focus.

I don’t want to leave my house and run errands because I know that I will probably end up spending money and right now I am trying to save money.  1st world “problems” right?!?!

I opted to get moving around the house and I decided to spruce up our closet.  Right now Christopher’s side of the closet looks bare because he folds most of his clothes and has them ready to go (he commutes to work and it is just easier that way).

Over the course of this past year, I have been purging and de-cluttering a lot and this is what I have left.  I am also at a point where I don’t want to buy new clothes right now until I am in better shape.

It is actually a good place to be because I am not spending extra money on clothes AND I have everything I need for now.

Through the years I have experimented with different ways to organize my clothes.  For example: separating workout wear from everyday wear, or by length.  So far my favorite has been to organize by color.

My most favorite closet accessory of all-time is this double-hanging closet rod:

This closet rod ranges from $12-20 and is a lifesaver because it doubles your space!

Here is a little look-see into our closet:

I know, I need still need to pick up the coins and vacuum, but at least it has a cute little kitty-corner!  Alleyjandra approves 🙂

I love wearing lots of colors!

When was the last time you went through your closet?  Do you usually hang on to clothes when you are trying to lose weight?  And, what are some of your favorite organization tips?

Comment below to share your tips and tricks!

  1. I try to clean out my closets at least once a year purging clothes that I didn’t wear at all or those that don’t fit. I do keep some clothes that I hope to fit in a again, but only those that will span across fashion changes like jeans, t-shirts, sweatshirts, or jackets and only my favorites in each in category. I hang everything except socks, undergarments, and PJ’s. In my closet, I hang every thing by kind ( meaning all t-shirts together, jeans together, dress slacks, dresses, skirts, nice shirts, etc.) and then each of those by color. I find it easiest to find what I am looking for that way. So depending on what I feel like wearing and/or need to wear if it should be a party or nice dinner, I just look in that section of the closet for the color that I feel like wearing if that makes sense. I try to simplify my life as much as possible so I have more time for the fun the stuff. 🙂

    1. I like your system! It is organized and makes it easy to locate things. Thanks so much for the tips! Having more time for the fun stuff sounds great! I am so going to follow your advice. Thanks for the tips and have a wonderful weekend! 🙂
