Workout and Word of the Day: #67

I had a late study night last night and I woke up to a wildly stormy morning.  I was tempted to stay in and skip my Afro-Brazilian Dance class today, but then I remembered that you can only miss 2 classes in the quarter.  If we miss more than 2 classes we will lose credit.  I also knew that once I got there it would feel good to move my body and dance.  I picked up a morning mocha then headed off to campus.

I was glad that I decided to do the responsible thing and go to class.  We had a movement class where we analyzed each others walks and did different drills to increase our own awareness.  I had such a blast in class!  We have a live drummer and we learned an Orixe dance, Samba, and Samba Reggae.  I love dancing because it makes me feel powerful and sensual at the same time.  

Workout of the Day: Afro Brazilian Dance + HIIT with Weights!!!

Total Body Hiit:

*For this workout it helps to set a timer.  Set your timer for 50 seconds on with 10 seconds rest.  There is a total of 12 exercises.

  1. Squat and Press
  2. Push-up Rows
  3. Side Burpees
  4. Deadlifts
  5. Elevated Planks
  6. Alternating Curtsy Lunges
  7. Plank Tuck Jumps
  8. T Push-ups
  9. Swings
  10. 10 Mountain Climbers + 10 High Knees
  11. Side Lunge kick (rt)
  12. Side Lunge Kick (lt)

*Repeat this circuit one more time!!!

100 total leg lifts!!!

That hiit workout kicked my butt, but I felt strong throughout the workout so it felt challenging and empowering!  I am finally starting  the enjoy my workouts again!  And I like being able to work from home 🙂

I am tired, but I still have more studying to do.  I am relieved that this week is coming to a close.  It was a very emotional week for me, but I made it through.  I would like to begin next week with a fresh and lighter, more positive outlook.

How is your weekend going so far?  Do you have any fun plans for the rest of the weekend?  For me it is just study, Study, STUDY!!!  I still have items to check off of my To-Do-List!  I still haven’t accomplished as much as I would have liked to by now, but I am trying to be gentle with myself.
