My Beloved Book of Dreams

Hello My Dear Darling Friends!

I think it is time for me to share my beloved book of dreams with you! My Mother gave me this “Dreams book” for my 15th birthday.  At first I was going to use it for a journal then one day I decided that I wanted to write all of my favorite quotes and lines of poetry that inspired me in this book.  Through the years, this book brought me lots of inspiration and then the summer of my senior year, I decided to ask “all the cool people in my life” to sign it and add their favorite quote!  This precious book has traveled the world with me through many ups and downs and twists and turns.  It unceasingly inspired me and offered me words of encouragement.

At first, I thought I would share one quote at a time, but now I think I am going to share my book page-by-page.

This quote helps me to think about challenges and obstacles optimistically and even embrace them:

“Every adversity, every unpleasant circumstance, every failure, and every physical pain carries with it the seed of an equivalent benefit.”

~Ralph Waldo Emerson (“Compensation”)

As a former swimmer, I always thought this quote was brilliant.  I remember the first time I ever saw it on the back of a sweatshirt at a swim meet!  I thought it was the most inspiring quote ever.  Since then, it almost feels like it has been overused to the point of pun, but that must mean it’s a good one right?!?!

“Pain is weakness leaving the body.”

Here’s another quote that I though was brilliant at the time.  Also very popular!

“All the glory comes from daring to begin.”

I thought this was a good quote to promote peace:

“…but one of them would make war rather than let the nation survive and the other would accept war rather than let it perish and the war came.”

~Abraham Lincoln, 2nd Inaugural Address

Here is a quote about courage and a brave man.  I always wanted to meet a brave man and now I have ❤

“It’s not a brave man that’s dangerous,” continued the dealer.  “It’s the cowards that scare me.”

~The Virginian by Owen Wister

Now you have officially seen and read the 1st page of my book of dreams.  I hope you enjoyed it!  What is your favorite quote?  I would love it if you could sign my book of dreams someday…  Naturally I am on probably the 4th volume :).

Love, Joy, and Blessings Always,

Alana Xoxoxo
