How’s It Goin’?!?!

First of all I want to thank everyone for all the encouragement and support that I have received going into my “Transform Your Life PRoject 2.0.”  I enjoyed last years project so much that I wanted to do it again this year.  It created another level of awareness in my life and helped me to set goals throughout the year.

This year I feel excited, inspired, and full of hope!!!

My approach has shifted from my norm.  Usually I put a lot of my effort into working out hard.  I hit the ground running, take dance classes, and last year I started weightlifting.  This approach does work!  Especially if you combine it with clean eating.  I noticed that I often worked out hard so that I could eat more.  After awhile, this strenuous schedule wore me down (hips, feet, and joints) and it was challenging to maintain.

I have heard from multiple people and a myriad of sources that I will only see the results that I want once I learn to manage my nutrition.  I have fought it because I love food!  Food is my comfort and my joy and often my obsession.

So…

This year I finally decided to tackle my nutrition first before I hit the workouts hard. I have resisted this for as long as I can remember because it takes a lot of willpower.

I still need to be active and move my body because I have a track record…  All the times that I have become sedentary and have not worked out, I have become a monster.  So I need to workout to maintain my sanity :).

This year I decided to try Buti Yoga  at least for a month then if I like it I will continue.  After not working out since before Thanksgiving, this practice felt brutal!  I am glad that I have started moving again.

Here is a list of this months’ goals!

January:

Build My Foundation

  • A Girls  gotta get her beauty sleep!(this applies to you guys too!). I have not been doing well with sleep.  It is the last week of Winter Break so I am enjoying it and I am okay with that!
  • Eliminate Distractions (less Netflix & Games).  I have NOT visited Netflix this year!  However I am still playing Starcraft.
  • Create a healthy routine.  I have stuck with my routine for the past three days!!!
  • Plan your track and track your plan (keep a food journal).  I have done this!
  • Eat Clean.  CHECK!!!
  • Do What you must.  I need to do more of this.
  • Create Healthier Habits.

For my nutrition I am following the Bright line eating program.  I really like it and am looking forward to becoming Happy, thin, and Free!!!

  1. No Flour
  2. No Sugar or sweeteners of any kind.

Those are the two biggest rules along with a specific meal plan.  It has been challenging, but I have stuck with it for the past 3 days.  I noticed yesterday that I was really tired.  If I get too tired then I will back off from working out and continue to focus on nutrition.

Eating clean is definitely a new adventure for me.  My boyfriend has done an amazing job with fixing up out RV and this evening we took it out for a mini adventure.  We even took our puppy Ruby and our Kitty Alleyjandra.  Tomorrow we might take it for a longer trip.  At least before I start school again.

How is your week going?  Have you managed to get back into the swing of things after the holidays?

Something else that I am going to focus on is hoping for and expecting the BEST rather than dreading the worst.  I noticed that last year I felt like I was always bracing myself and worrying that everything would fall apart.  I don’t want to live that way anymore so I won’t!!!

Enjoy the rest of your week my Dear Darling Friends!!!  I will see you soon!!!

Love, Joy, and Blessings Always,

Alana Xoxoxo

  1. Good job! I don’t want to control what I eat. I mean, I love food. Just thinking of cutting back on this or that..that’s a scary thought! Anyway, good luck! I wish you the best 😀

    1. Hi Kat!

Happy New Year!!! I totally understand. I love food too. I always enjoy reading your restaurant and food reviews.

    1. Hi Jess!!!

Happy 2017 to you too :). The holiday season was wonderful and a definite needed break! I hope you had a wonderful holiday season too.

By the end of it I was more than ready for this New Year. I hope classes will go well for you too.

      1. I know what you mean – needed the break but ready to get the next part done! Lol & I’m sure we will :)) out of all the bloggers I’ve met i feel like I relate to you most bc the school stuff lol thank you!

      2. Awww, I am honored that you can relate to me. You are so positive, articulate, upbeat and enthusiastic about learning and it really inspires me :).
It is really nice to have to you talk with about school stuff:). I definitely think that navigating through the school scene as a grown woman is definitely different from starting right out of highschool, isn’t it? At the same time, it is also a luxury to be able to study and learn interesting things. Sometimes I forget that when I am in the midst of “the struggle.”
Keep it up! You’re doing great, my dear!!! I am looking forward to chatting with you again soon!!!

      3. Aww thank you Alana, you are the sweetest person ever! And yes, I definitely agree – it’s totally different now being older than most classmates. Lol my first week back there was a guy who asked for my snapchat username instead of my phone # when he was hitting on me. Weird. But yeah I get what you mean about how going back is a luxury :)) You’re doing great too — we’ll get through it! ❤ We can chat anytime :))

      4. Thanks Jess! That is funny about snapchat. Times have changed, but I think there are lots of good changes especially with technology and the medical field.
I start school on Monday and I am taking a program called “Dancing Bodies Dancing Molecules.” It covers some biology, chemistry, dance, and health topics and studies how they are related. Wish me luck, I haven’t taken bio or chem since highschool! I hope you are having a great day today!!!

      5. Thanks so much for offering to answer my questions! I might take you up on that someday :). Thank goodness for youtube and all the resources that are available at the tips of our fingers, right?!?! Xoxoxo

  3. Hi Alana, I’m glad to read you’re so energetic and full hope! It’s inspiring! Indeed, you are what you eat. Cassey always says that 30% workout will have an influence on how you look, but the remaining 70% comes from the food… I try to eat clean, but it is indeed quite difficult with a boyfriend who loves eating fried food so much. What does help me get through my mornings are my oatmeals that I prepare the night before! It gives me enough energy and doesn’t get me into this sugar dip, that I usually have… I also like to pack for lunch pizza, but made with a bottom of grilled eggplant (I buy a huge bag of frozen grilled eggplant). The night before I make my pizza. At work I heat it in the microwave and have some salad with it. Anyways, I’m rooting for you! ❤ Sarah

    1. Hi Sarah!

You made my day :). I can relate to you too because my boyfriend also enjoys fried foods and also works late into the night. Throughout our relationship I have been right there with him.

Oatmeal is a great idea! I love overnight oats. What are your favorite ingredients to add to your oats? I was never much of a salad eater before, but this week I have done a good job with eating a large salad with dinner. Your grilled eggplant pizza sounds delicious! I will have to try that.

Yes, that is one of my concerns… I start a full-school schedule next monday and have never been good about eating clean on the go so I really appreciate your suggestions!!!
Enjoy the rest of your day and we will talk soon!!! Xoxoxoxo

      ❤ Alana

  4. Happy New Year, I admire your determination it is quite inspiring. I hope to cut down on sugar, I am going to take one step at a time and hope I can also lose 2 stone. I shall check back on your progress x

    1. Happy New Year Rebecca!!!

Thanks for your encouragement :). Sugar is challenging to give up because it immediately makes me feel better when I eat it and so many sugary things are delicious.
This is the longest that I have successfully stuck with cutting it out. I still eat whole fruits because the fiber is good for us and our bodies absorb it differently from refined sugar.
Step-by-step is a great way to start. You can do it!!! Definitely drink lots of water and do things that bring you joy!!! I am looking forward to checking in with you too 🙂

      ❤ Alana

    1. Hi Pippa!

Thanks so much for stopping by! I like that! Thinking about a muscle that becomes stronger with use. That is such a good reminder because last year I found myself shying away from situations that made me uncomfortable. Thinking about developing my muscle with practice will help me in future situations.

I hope 2017 will be an Absolutely Amazing year for you!!!

      ❤ Alana
