Weight-loss Wednesday #1

Hello My Dear Darling Friends!

This  cold weather has got me feeling a little down, but I am thinking sunny, bright, happy thoughts and I hope that you are too!  I want to start documenting my weight loss journey so that I can keep my goals and progress in plain sight.

At the beginning of the year I thought I would take a different approach and focus solely on nutrition before adding in exercise, but I am starting to see that I need to exercise if I want to function properly.  I have been an active person my entire life and being sedentary does not work for me.

Without exercise I am:

  • depressed
  • lethargic
  • moody
  • sad
  • experience numbing in my hand every night

Some people are fine with being sedentary and have enough will-power to focus on clean nutrition.  I think that I need exercise to exist.

With exercise I am:

  • ambitious
  • happy
  • upbeat
  • full-of-life
  • energetic
  • creative

I want to find a balance point where I can maintain a habit of clean eating and exercise.  I did notice that when I added exercise into my routine it increased my appetite.  I just need to make sure that I am feeding my appetite with the right kind of fuel.

In my 1st “Transform Your Life Project 2.0” post of the year I asked you, my readers if you thought I should post weekly progress photos.  Many people said yes.  I am nervous about this because I am currently at my heaviest weight and I do not feel comfortable in my skin.  I feel self-conscious and want to hide, but I am going to do it!

I am going to post progress photos and keep you all updated.  I cannot promise that I am going to post them every single week, but I will do what I can!

Current Weight: 187

Energy Level: Lethargic

Activity Level: Sedentary

Current Mood: Down and Depressed

So there it is!  My starting point.  My heaviest.  My fluffiest.

There is Always hope and I am looking forward to the future!

I absolutely love my classes at school!!!  There is a lot of focus on health, fitness, and well-being.  It definitely provides me with lots of motivation to get active and healthy.

Love, Joy, and Blessings Always,

  1. Hi, Alana. I love my yoga and I just started doing pilates. Both practices give me a nice balance: challenging enough to feel it but not so strenuous that I end up avoiding them. And if I just don’t feel like leaving home, I can just kick off my shoes and run through my routine in the living room.

    1. Hi Laura!
I do think that it would be good for me to start practicing yoga and pilates. I do not currently have a gym membership so it would be something I could do comfortably at home. Thanks for your suggestion!

  2. You can do it Alana! The most important thing is that you feel great with yourself! I used to hate it, when friends of my mom (or even just acquaintances) would come at me and say: you have a pretty face, but you should lose some weight. Happened today again as a matter of fact. I doesn’t bother me as much as I thought, I should indeed lose some. Nonetheless, it’s nobody’s business to tell me how skinny I have to be. As long as I feel energetic, pretty and me, myself and I, nothing else should matter! But having a good resolution to take care of myself, eating clean, dancing and reading your posts keeps me motivated and going! xoxo Sarah

    1. Thanks Sarah!
I am sorry that people have said that to you. People have said that to me too and it is frustrating that they feel entitled to be critical and make those kinds of comments.
I am glad you don’t let it get you down!!! You are beautiful to the core on the inside and the outside!!! You’re right as long as we feel healthy, energetic, strong, and pretty that is what matters. I am so happy to hear that my posts are motivating. Yes! Keep going! We got this!!! xoxoxo

  3. I’m on Day 1 of my weight loss journey today! I love that you take into account your mood–that’s something I’ve never done before when journaling to lose weight, but it makes so much sense. I’m going to start doing it today!

    1. It’s exciting that it’s Day 1 of your journey! You are gonna reach your goals!!! Yes, this is the 1st time that I have really taken my mood into account. I have noticed that it plays a huge role in the way I feel, my energy level, and the choices I make.
I hope you will have a great week and enjoy this journey!!! We got this!!!
