Write whatever you normally write about, and weave in a book quote, film quote, or song lyric that’s been sticking with you this week.
In the past, if someone said something hurtful or offended me, I used to let it bother me and spoil my day. Even if it was a person who did not affect my life in the grand scheme of things. I would still hang on to those negative feelings and spend too much time worrying about what they thought and over analyzing the whole situation.
I admire people who don’t stay mad or upset for a long time. Now I am aspiring to become one of them.
The last time we visited my Grandma Alice she told me about how sometimes she and Grandpa Leo would argue and have disagreements and once it was done he would say, “Alice, are we still friends?” And Grandma would say, “Of course we are we.” Grandma said that for a relationship to grow and thrive it is important to compromise, be supportive, and be able to forgive and forget. Her wisdom has stuck with me and I hope to be more like her ❤
Life is to short (or too long) to allow the words or actions of others to spoil an entire day.
I have been working on becoming stronger and more resilient and a large part of this work has been learning to BOUNCE BACK.
Might also be the fact that this song has been stuck in my head and on repeat!
Last night took an L, but tonight I bounce back
Wake up every morning, by the night, I count stacks…
The under dog just turned into the wolf and the hunger steady grows
Yeah, I call shots while you call off
Never takin’ summer or fall off
When you stay that committed to it, you just fall down and never fall off…
If you a real one, then you know how to bounce back.
How do you bounce back after stumbling? Do you let the words of others get you down or do you make it a point to not let it ruin your day? Maybe it depends on who the person is? Comment below to share your thoughts!
Love, Joy, and Blessings Always,
I spend a lot of time capering to that song! With a beat like that you can’t sit still!
