Workout and Word of the Day: #58

Hello My Dear Darling Friends!

Do you ever struggle with motivation when it comes to working out?  I don’t know if it was the copious amount of rain or lack of coffee in my life (maybe both), but I was seriously struggling to muster up the motivation to work out.

Before I knew it, my mind started playing tricks on me and I almost gave myself an “unplanned rest day.”  I do believe that rest and recovery is an essential part of training, but I could tell that in my case I was going to use it as an excuse to get out of working out.  Even then, there are some instances when this is acceptable because as we all know “life happens.”

After lunch and a cup of earl grey tea, I felt renewed and decided to do my workout!

Workout of the Day: 20 Minute HIIT + Power Pilates + Ballet!

Here is a fun little hip-hop warm-up: Remember to bend your knees.  Knees are essential to movement 😉 and we need to protect ours!

20 Minute Warrior HIIT: Is it just me or is this workout super hard?!?!

I felt pretty wiped out after that 20 minute hiit workout and I figured I would call it a day.

Word of the Day:

oceanicity- noun

  1. The degree to which the climate of a place is influenced by the sea.

In the later evening, I felt a surge of inspiration and decided to do pilates and end the day with some gentle yoga.

I love Denise Austin’s Power Pilates Workout:

Yoga For Relaxation:

I know that there will be days when I don’t want to workout.  That is just part of the human condition…  My biggest concern about taking “days off” is that one day will turn into 2 and before long 2 weeks will go by without a workout.  I only say this because I know myself or at least my past pattern of behavior.

When my life gets hectic, busy, or stressful my workouts and self-care usually end up taking the back-burner.  I want to change this about myself so I have created a new rule:

“I will plan my rest days ahead of time.”

Simple as that and maybe so simple that it is common sense.  I just want to limit any behaviors that may lead me to making excuses.  And on those days when I am under the weather or too sick to workout; I will still make an effort to go for a walk or spend just 5 minutes stretching.

I am committed to my health and my transformation!
