Be-YOU-tifully YOU Project: Weeks # 6 & 7

Hello My Dear Darling Friends!

February is flying by!  I cannot believe that we have already passed the halfway point.  This has been a good 2 weeks for me.  I decided to take a break from my super diet and I have started going for walks with one of my dearest friends.

Back in December I decided to check the Mixxedfit website to see if they were offering an instructor training near me.  I took my first instructor training back in 2015 at Dojo 3 in Renton.  It was a wonderful yet challenging experience and I was practically in tears by the end of 8 straight hours of dancing.  I remember feeling excited, but also nervous because I wasn’t a “dancer.

Fast forward to December 2017 and to my surprise there was a Mixxedfit Workshop right here in Olympia in February of this year.  I went to the registration page and to my surprise it showed that the entire event was free.  I thought that maybe it was either a fluke of my lucky day.  I quickly signed up then invited my friend Danika and my sister to sign up.  I was thrilled when Danika decided to register too!

As the workshop weekend drew nearer, I became more apprehensive about attending.  I had not worked out for most of January because I was focusing on my nutrition.  Also, it had been a couple of years since I had actually taken a Mixxedfit class.  It is more challenging when you do not belong to a gym.

Luckily, my friend Danika reminded me of our upcoming workshop.  I kept thinking that I would ditch all the way up to the actual day.  I am so glad that I had my friend to hold me accountable.

I decided that I would dedicate this training to my late professor Kabby Mitchell who introduced me to the world of dance a year ago.  Danika and I decided to commit to at least going to the 1.5 hr workshop in the morning then probably leaving after that.  We were both doubtful that we could survive 8 whole hours of dancing…

I woke up early and decided to head on over.  I also made the commitment by signing up for the licensing program for a year!

  • Count your blessings.  Yes, I spent a lot of time feeling so grateful for all the blessings in my life.
  • Learn about faith.  I will do this this week.
  • Actively build your confidence.  Yes!  I pushed myself to take that Mixxedfit workshop even though I really wanted to skip it.
  • Believe in Miracles.  Yes!
  • Believe in Yourself!  I believe in myself!!!

Danika and I had a wonderful time at our Mixxedfit Workshop and it turned out that it was meant to be free!!!  It was also a huge honor because the our workshop was taught by the founder, Lori Barcenilla!!!  We made it through 8 whole hours of dancing and I felt a lot better than I did back in 2015.  I was surprised because for some reason I thought I was in better shape back then than I am today, but I think that I am actually in better shape now!

I am so glad that I decided to attend even though I wanted to skip it.  I had a feeling that it would be worth-it and it definitely was an experience that I will treasure forever!!!

I was less sore than I expected, but on Tuesday of this past week my entire neck felt really sore and stiff.  Thank goodness for salonpas, arnica, and tiger balm.  Also ice packs and neck rubs from my boyfriend.  Oh yes, and epsom salt baths!  I am finally on the mend.

I am going to start practicing yoga today.  How were your past two weeks?  Did you have fun Valentine’s Day?  Comment below to share!

Here is my weekly Be-YOU-tiful pic ❤

Love, Joy, and Blessings Always,

  1. Sounds like you had a great two weeks. Mine weren’t the best, but at my age, I just keep movin’ along. I’ll get there. Congrats on your workout! Sounds fun.

    1. Hello, I am sorry that these past two weeks weren’t great for you. I hope this week will be a lot better. I try to remind myself to keep moving forward because it is temporary. Thank you for stopping by and reading.

      ❤ Alana
