Does This Spark Joy?

Hello My Dear Darling Friends!

Spring is a perfect time for change…  I honestly say this nearly every season because it is true.  We are constantly changing and the more we can embrace those changes rather than fighting them; the better off we will be mentally, spiritually, and physically.

This year I have spent a lot of my time learning how to cope with stress.  It turns out that I need to stay busy and pour my soul into my passions and interests.  Also, I did not know this about myself before, but I am happier when I am busy.  I also need to keep in mind the fact that I am an introvert so alone time gives me a chance to recharge.

We have many grand adventures coming up and I have about 10 days to decide what I want to take with me and what I would like to leave behind.  In the past, I know that this would have caused me a lot of stress, but I am choosing to see it as an empowering experience.

Also, once the 10 days is up I have decided that I will immediately donate everything that has not been processed.  So I know that I will take care of the things that matter the most!

As I go through my items, you can bet that I will be closing my eyes and asking myself, “Does this spark joy?”   I am a little nervous about the more sentimental items like photographs (before the days of facebook and the digital world) and little mementos because those things sure add up!

How do you decide what to keep and what to let go of?  Please comment below to share your tips and tricks!

Love, Joy, and Blessings Always,

❤ Alana xoxoxo

  1. Are you pushing through with moving? I haven’t been here in a while so I’m not sure if you are!!!!! If you are, I am excited for you. I can see a whole new adventure for you and your partner! ❤ When it comes to cleaning what I would do is to separate all my items into things I use, rarely use, and never use. The never use, I easily throw out. The rarely use, I try to use it but if it doesn't seem to work for me anymore, that's a sign that it has to go! I choose to go through this process because I value everything – in the sense that I bought it and it's wasted money if I just throw it out. But definitely, things would change if I have a time limit like yours! 😉

    1. Hi Kat! Yes, the first family that visited our house wanted to buy it for more than asking so we are moving forward! I am excited and also slightly emotional. This was our first house and we have been here for 3 years. Thanks for your tips. I started doing this and it is definitely helping! I hope you are doing well too. Have you two moved into your new home? Also, I am starting the intermittent fasting this week. Thanks again for your helpful tips and tricks!

      1. Wowww!!!! Congratulations!!!! I’m so excited for you. I really am!! And talk about being lucky that the first family who visited your house wanted it and offered more! I’m excited for you!!

We’ve moved in this weekend and we have a lot of adjusting to do, lol. It’s our first time to be together 24/7 and it’s… new! Haha! I hope intermittent fasting works for you. I’ll watch out for your posts about it! ❤

      2. Thanks Kat! I am excited about this new journey!
Congratulations on moving in to your new home! I am excited for you! Yes, being around each other 24/7 is definitely an adjustment. My bf and I have lived together for 3 years now and I think what has helped is making sure that we both have our own space to get a little alone time. It could be an office or even just a little corner. I didn’t believe that it was a great idea in the first 2 years, and even spent time worrying that if we spent time apart we might grow apart, but now I can see it is nice and necessary.

I will keep you updated on the intermittent fasting too! ❤
