It Takes Resolve to Make Things Happen

Yesterday I was able to check off 8/10 of the items on my to-do-list! This is progress especially since the 2 items I did not complete were “workout” and “don’t worry be happy.” Those are both things that I am fully capable of doing even on those days that I don’t feel motivated.

Like today, I don’t feel like working out and I am feeling anxiety around trying out the gym for the 1st time in my community, but I will give it a try. What’s the worst thing that could happen?

Have you ever made a New Year’s Resolution that you kept?

I think I was better at setting goals and reaching them when I was a child.  When I was 13 I decided that I wanted to do the “Young Artists Festival” for violin.  In this festival we were required to learn and memorize a piece from 4 different periods.  I learned violin pieces from the Baroque, Classical, Romantic, and Modern periods.  On the day of the festival we would perform our pieces from memory for a panel of judges.  That year I was one of the youngest contestants to perform.  It was such a wonderful learning experience for me.

These are the pieces that I learned:

Baroque: Bach Violin Sonata BWV 1001 G minor 4 Presto

Classical: Mozart Concerto #3 in G

Romantic: Mendelssohn Violin Concerto in e minor 3rd mvt.

Modern: Praeludium and Allegro by Fritz Kriesler

  1. I admire you for going to the gym. I have a passionate hate for gyms :p. But it’s a weird relationship, because after I go, I always feel pumped and great. I’ve learned that if I hit the gym several times a week, I’ll be more likely to give up. So for 2019, I stick to once per week and 2 times dancing per week. Hopefully that’ll keep me going! xoxo Sarah
