The Ones That Got Away…

Dealing with loss has given me a chance to take a step back and think about life…

We all have our hopes, dreams, and plans and we hope that we will have enough time to make plans to turn those dreams into cans.

That is a bit of a run-on sentence, but it feels real to me.  I talk a lot about how we are gifts to each other and I still believe this is more true than ever.  Each interaction has potential in some way.  It could be as simple as a smile or an observation that teaches us about others.

Sometimes we miss those moments when our eyes are buried in our phones observing the lives of others.  I know I do this too often.  And some interactions need to be muffled out and that is when I am thankful for headphones.

We do not know how much time we have on this earth and it breaks my heart when time gets cut short for the people I have met.

Some people get away and some people are here to stay.

Death is so final, but it is not the only thing that cuts time short for people.  Sometimes we only have snapshots of time with people.  Looking back, those times often happened to me when I was deeply worried about something else, but I decided to get out and leave the house.

I am glad that I decided to lift my eyes from my phone and interact with the real world for a little while.  In those impromptu moments I have experienced the greatest adventures with some of the most beautiful souls.

Be brave and when you feel down take your eyes off the ground and go somewhere.  Do Something.  Create something.  Be open to possibilities because the possibilities are out there for all of us.

Life is meant to be LIVED OUT LOUD and time keeps going even when we are sad and feeling bad.

Sometimes those beautiful souls go away and become “the ones that got away” and sweethearts that is okay.   Remember the good times and return to those memories to polish them every now and then.  They were a part of your life and added another beautiful facet to your story.

There have been a few beautiful instances where the “ones that got away” came back and decided to rekindle our friendship.  Those times are blessings, but that does not always happen.

Sometimes fireflies need to fly away and light up the world.

Thank you all you beautiful souls, wherever you are, for lighting up my world.
