Be-YOU-tifully YOU Project 2.0 Week #10

“Peace is the result of retraining your mind to process life as it is, rather than as you think it should be.”

Hello My Dear Darling Friends!

This was a good week with lots of healthy, new changes.  On Monday I started doing a 14 day tea cleanse.  Now do not worry!  This is not one of those radical fast for days and eat only lettuce and apples cleanses.  It was a set of tea that I picked up from Ross for $5.00 and I thought it was worth a shot!  Basically, each day you drink 3 teas.  There is a green tea/lemon moringa tea in the morning.  A matcha mint tea in the afternoon.  And a cranberry senna blend to drink before bedtime.

It was good timing because I needed to do something that would help me hit a reset button nutritionally.  I was also eating a lot of steak in the month of February and wanted to give my digestive system a little TLC.  I stopped drinking coffee for 5 days, but made an exception yesterday and today.  It is interesting to see how much coffee elevates my mood.  I noticed that during the week I was a lot calmer, more tired, sometimes grumpy, and very introspective.

I am enjoying this cleanse so far.  I also started working on balancing my blood sugar based on 3 main guidelines from the ripped planet website:

  1. Eat one hour within waking and every 3 to 4 hours until bedtime (about 5 to 6 times a day.)
  2. Balance each meal with complete protein (from animal or soy), carbohydrates, and fat.
  3. Eat smaller meals.  Aim to feel satisfied, but not full.

I also finished up my old fitness / nutrition journal and started a brand new one on Monday.  This week I logged everything that had to do with my meals and workouts from the time I woke up to the exact time that I ate my meals.  I think this is very helpful for me and my personality type because I love my stats!

I also started week #5 which means new exercises for the next 4 weeks.  For my first 4 weeks, my upper body workouts were following the 5 x 5 method.  I definitely got stronger, but I noticed that my wrist was more tender.  I think I need to strengthen my joints before I can really rock out on 45 plus pound dumbbells.  Now I am doing lighter (not really light) weights with more sets and reps and I like it so far!

It is finals’ week this upcoming week and I have been wrapping up my projects for my current internship and am getting ready to begin a new one for spring quarter!  I am excited, but also end up feeling anxious around this time of year.  I know I will feel a lot better once spring quarter officially begins!

“Peace is the result of retraining your mind to process life as it is, rather than as you think it should be.”

  • Breathe Deeply.  I need to do more of this.
  • Meditate I think I only meditated for 5 minutes one time this week.
  • Yoga EVERY DAMN Day!!!  Not even once this week, but I will try and change that this week!
  • Sing.  No
  • Draw Nope
  • Begin Spring cleaning.  I am planning on starting that today!
  • Laugh out LOUD.  I really need to laugh more!

So many creative goals this month!  Luckily, February is over and I will hopefully feel more creative.   If not, I am okay with that too because my focus for this week is peace, remember?  If I worry too much about not being creative, that will only be unnecessary stress in my life.

I am enjoying my internship, but it is honestly a little isolating because I am at my desk coding, studying, and building most of the time.  It is a huge change from Fall quarter where I was going to classes on campus, interacting with lots of people, and dancing to my heart’s content.  I also spent a lot of time with my friends and family and I think I miss that social interaction.

I know that this is only temporary and I am willing to make some sacrifices to build a beautiful future for myself.  Besides, my weekends are my adventure times!

Speaking of adventures!  Yesterday I got to check off one of my bucketlist items and I went to Diego Pops for lunch!  I will write a whole post about that adventure later!

Here are my posts from the past week.  Check them out!:

I am very proud of the fact that I posted a lot this week!  It is one of the things that keeps me company when I am working on my projects.

Here is my weekly Be-YOU-tiful pic!  I thought I would show you the look with and without my glasses 😉

How was your week?  I hope your March is off to a great start!  Please comment below to tell me more about your week!

❤ Alana
