I Marched through March & Now April is Here

Hello My Dear Darling Friends!

March was a long month and now it is over!  I focused on my workouts more than ever and have kept a very consistent food journal.  My morning routine was less than solid and I did not accomplish nearly “enough” of the goals that I set for the month of March, but I am happy with everything that I did accomplish!

I spent a lot more time sitting in the sun and went for nice long walks at the end of the day.  Winter quarter at school came to a close and it was honestly a tumultuous quarter because I had so many simultaneous life changes.  Thankfully, I was able to pull everything together and accomplish everything I needed to in my internship.  It was definitely stressful at the end of the month, but I did not let the stress interfere with my workouts!

I got to explore more and started dreaming bigger than ever before.  If everything works out the way I am hoping it will, I will hopefully be moving to a dream destination soon.  Once I get there I have some career goals that I am excited to work on.

Overall, March was a sunny and colorful month.  Here are some of my March highlights:

The new month of April, Spring quarter, and week #9/12 of my current workout cycle all start today.  This quarter is especially important because once I complete my course work, I will feel a lot more confident in my abilities as a full stack web developer.  That has been one of my big goals for a long time that once felt impossible.  I am also doing a 30 day yoga challenge that started yesterday.

I think it is fitting that my theme for the month of April is GRIT!

“Grit is that ‘extra something’ that separates the most successful people from the rest.  It’s the passion, perseverance, and stamina that we must channel in order to stick with our dreams until they become a reality.”   -Travis Bradberry

Here are my goals for this month of April:

  • Wake up a little earlier for an early start.
  • Do what you must and do it with ALL your heart.
  • Train a little harder.
  • Blog everyday
  • Give something up.
  • Learn a new language and / or expand on what you have learned so far.
  • Study marketing.

So far I am off to a great start!  I woke up around 7 am which is about an hour earlier than usual.  I also started my day with power yoga!  When I went to the gym, the usual regulars were there and then it felt like a bunch of people came flooding in.  I usually have the gym to myself, but I guess now that the new month has started; people are working on those summer goals!  I think I am going to start my days even earlier.

These goals are nicely aligned with this quarters internship and I think the thing that I will give up this month will be added refined sugar.  I have been enjoying ice cream lately to the point that it has become a craving and I would like to give that up!  My exceptions will be fruit, my occasional pre-workout, and my whey protein shake.

How was the month of March for you and what are some of your goals for the month of April?  Please comment below to share!

  1. Hawaii???? I hope things all go well for you! Looking at your picture, you look very good, Alana!! ❤ It looks like your workouts are working. I am so proud of you 🙂

    1. Hi Kat! Yes! That is the goal. It seems like our biggest challenge will be flying 2 cats there. We are working on that now. And thank you so much! It has been a long road to get to where I currently am and I know I still have a ways to go, but I am glad I finally got started. You have definitely inspired me through the years. I was already pretty heavy and I think I gave up a little when I got officially diagnosed at the age of 22, but now that I am 30 it is time for me to really take responsibility for my health 🙂
