Workout and Word of the Day #53

Hello My Dear Darling Friends!

I felt more energized this morning thanks to an iced coffee.  I decided to hit the gym early since this is one of the days that the trainers train their clients.  It was leg day and I have noticed a great difference now that I have a solid warm-up and glute activation routine.  I got through my entire leg workout and right before the hiit portion the personal trainer showed up with her two girls.  It was nice that it was just the 4 of us and we were able to split the space down the middle.

Today’s Workout is Leg Day + Hiit!

  1. Bodyweight single-leg hip thrust w/ 3 sec. pause (3 x 10)
  2. DB Box Squat (3 x 10)
  3. Ball Hyperextension (3 x 12)
  4. Side Lunges (3 x 10)

I was able to go up in weight for each exercise minus the bodyweight exercises, of course!

Hiit: 30 sec. on / 30 sec. res | 2 rounds!

  1. Prisoner Jump Squat to crossover
  2. Lateral Lunge into Standing Oblique Crunch
  3. Repeat on other side
  4. 8-count Burpees w/ tuck jump
  5. Star Jumps
  6. Curtsy Lunge Shuffle

It was a great workout that got me glowing and my heart beating fast.  On my way out I did the “mature” thing and didn’t say anything to the other girls, but at least I wasn’t rude about it 😉

Yes, I know…  Sometimes I can be petty too…

Today’s Word of the Day is:

lese majesty– noun

  1. An attack on any custom, institution, belief, etc. held sacred or revered by numbers of people.

I think a big part of me still has gym anxiety.  That is why I really enjoy our small gym with the simple equipment.  The thought of going to a bigger gym and working out in front of people still scares me.

For example, I like doing deadlifts and squats, but the thought of walking up to the platform makes me feel like I automatically put myself on blast and open myself up to scrutiny.  Do you have any tips or tricks for overcoming this type of anxiety and being brave?  If so, please comment below!
