I have those two sun dresses with the pretty sugar skulls and my hippie gypsy dress that my Grandma Alice gave me for my Golden Year Birthday. I wore those dresses proudly everywhere. To the beach, in the sunshine, and in the pouring down rain. On dates, to church, to coffee, as Halloween costumes… You name it. If it was a special occasion. You could probably find me wearing one of those dresses.
That was definitely a year of wearing dresses for me. I parted with the gypsy dress before the others, but I still have my sugar skull dresses. Pretty soon I couldn’t wear them because I put on a lot of weight, but I still have those dresses with me.
The Question is: Do I keep these dresses? They sparked a lot of joy for me before, but I also feel a little sad now that Grandma is living her last few days.
It is funny how we hold memories in fabric. How do you say goodbye to one of the most important people in your life?
What would you do? Would you keep them or let them go?
