Workout and Word of the Day #61

Hello My Dear Darling Friends!

I am so pleased with the fact that my knee is no longer hurting.  Yesterday it felt like I had to alter the way that I was walking to keep my knee from hurting and today I am pain free.  I think it payed off to be more aware of my movements, go for a walk, and do exercises that focused on strengthening the muscles around my knees.

I started my day with another walk around the lake (but first coffee), it was rainy and refreshing.  When I sat down for work I was able to think more clearly and work effectively.  I definitely function best when I am active.

Safe & Effective Stabilization Exercises for most knees:

I enjoyed following along with this video.  It served as a great warm-up and was surprisingly challenging.

Knee-friendly Fat Burning Cardio: Complete this circuit 4 times!

I really enjoyed this pilates/hiit style workout!  I was not sure that I would want to do it all 4 times, but I did and I am glad that I did!

Today’s Word of the Day is:

hutzpah– noun

  1. Unmitigated effrontery or impudence; gall.
  2. Audacity; nerve.

I enjoyed today’s workout.  I am glad that I decided to start moving my body again.  I noticed that my wrist was really bothering me throughout the first hiit circuit so I adjusted my hand placement and by the 3rd set the pain was gone.  I think properly warming up also helped me to feel less pain.

After my workout I did 6 minutes of meditation and it felt great.  I have also decided to start focusing on reaching my protein goals again.  I have to admit that I have been off track this month and possibly will be for the rest of this month since I am in the midst of a big move.

I am making peace with this fact and am choosing to figure out what I can do while I am on the move.  So far, these youtube workouts are working well.

How do you stay active when you are traveling or life is super hectic.  Please comment below to share!

  1. Hi Alana – best wishes with your move and changes – and glad you had another successful day – i did Zumba again this week and the cardio and mental focus was just what my body needed –

    1. Thank you 🙂 I am glad you had a great workout too! Zumba is one of my favorite workouts. It doesn’t even feel like work! I am glad you encouraged me to start meditating. I think it is much-needed.

      1. I am so happy to have suggested the meditation 🙏 ahhh
I also got a little swimming in this week
And like you said – being active can clear the mind and we just feel better 😉

  2. 100% agree. It’s so important to be aware of what your body is telling you and adjust your exercise. I’ve learnt the hard way that it doesn’t work to just push through the pain! Good luck xx

    1. Thank you! Yes, listening to our bodies seems to be the key to being consistent. I used to try to “push through the pain” but ended up spending more time injured. Thanks for stopping by and reading!
