Workout and Word of the Day #105

Hello My Dear Darling Friends!

I had the worst pain in my neck and a knot in my shoulders.  I think it was caused by stress because this is the time of month that I worry about everything and it is more challenging to be calm.  I am thankful.  The bills are paid and life is full of blessings.  I remind myself of these blessings everyday.

Among the blessings is the fact that movement can be so therapeutic.  I decided to practice yoga, do a shorter ballet workout, and roll out my knot with my handy lacrosse ball.  Today I feel a lot less stressed and the pain in my neck has thankfully loosened.

Workout of the Day: Ballet + Yoga

Ballet Workout: Graceful Arms and Back

This mini class was challenging and a lot of fun.  I was able to work my arms and take action to improve my posture.  I felt so graceful the entire time.

Yoga For Chronic Pain with Adriene:

It was so fitting that this happened to be today’s workout video.  I think that it helped me wake up feeling better today.

  1. Hi alana – I sent the second video link to my friend K who has pain. Maybe she can try it.
good luck on the 8 week fitness challenge –
I have eight more weeks in my “walking every day for the rest of 2019” – I started three weeks ago – and so far so good…

    1. Hello! Thank you for sharing. I think her video really helped me with the gentle stretching, movement, and deep breathing. I hope that your friend will feel better.
Great job on your “Walking everyday for the rest of 2019” I think I saw some of your posts that talked about that. Keep it up it is a wonderful goal and a great way to get fresh air and be in the moment. Hope you are doing well.

      1. That is exactly what I was going for – the fresh air and presence stuff – 20 minutes a day is not enough to be a workout – but sometimes I walk longer.
And wishing you a nice rest of your day

      2. 20 minutes is great. Sometimes I kind of miss having a dog. I used to walk her and listen to a podcast. Luckily, my friend Diana adopted her when we moved. I am also more of a cat person anyway… 🙂 I am getting ready to cut my refined sugar. Wish me luck. I know it will help, but it is still challenging for me.

      3. I do wish you luck with the sugar – it was so hard for me – and once I got off of it – it was always there to sneak in. Like one time – without realizing it – I was taking Trader Joe’s peanut butter cups out of the freezer one at a time and getting a slow hourly dose – it was sneaky because they were all natural and dark chocolate – and for me – sugar impeded my healing at the time so it was crucial to watch it! Or then I would take a bit of something awesome – and spit it out (got the idea from a body builder and at first it was awesome) however – because of the sublingual lymph flow – I was releasing sugar into my bloodstream from under the tongue! Dang!
Anyhow – it took patience for me to finally stop the trickling of sugar! I did have key like pie in Florida and anytime I have sugar – it pulls from energy and so that has helped me say no.
Last night they were eating Coconut cream cake – and I had cashews and walked away – it was hard at first – but I kept talking myself “Sugar arrests three immune system” and you will feel wonderful later by walking away (no one bite)
And it was true! Had a big fat chicken thigh at home – with crispy skin! Never thought of the cake again.

Anyhow – that would be my tip – stay full on healthy foods and get lots of oils and fats and your body will not miss the sugars
Oh and watch out for fruit!
Even tho it is healthy – it is sugar and the pancreas –
Metabolism and other body functions still respond to all sugars!
Mane berries and cherries are okay – in small amounts – but the big stay away from items for us were bananas – grapes and tropical fruits
        Best wishes my friend

      4. Thank you for sharing your breakup with sugar stories. It really is a mental challenge too. I didn’t have any Halloween candy or desserts this year, but there are still other ways I need to let the sugar go. Like in my coffee and the tropical fruit. My Dad and family has a history of Diabetes so I better make a serious change now.

        Thank you for the tips!

        ❤ Alana

    1. That is such a great idea! I think it would probably bring back good memories and laughter is so valuable. My favorite kinds of “workouts” are the ones that don’t feel like work. Enjoy!
