Hello My Dear Darling Friends!
Once again the weeks have escaped me! When I first sat down to write this week’s post I was going to write about week #52, but then I realized that I almost completely skipped week #51.
For a fleeting moment I thought that I would try and remember all the things that happened during week #51 then quickly turn around and write about #52 a few days later, but I know myself… Week #52 technically ends tomorrow and a brand new year is beginning in a few days. I better close this chapter so that I can prepare for the new one. I also have to think about what kind of project I want to do for 2020. What are your ideas? I think that I am good on the be-YOU-tiful projects since I have done 2 of them in a row. I feel more beautiful than ever as a result. I am trying to decide between a “Happiness Project” or a “Transform Your Life Project” or maybe even a “Purpose Project.” I am leaning towards a happiness project because I would like to work on finding joy again now that I am entering a new phase of my life. Please comment below to tell me what kind of project you think I should do for 2020!
Last Sunday I wrote my Blogiversary blog post and it was probably the longest and most involved post I have ever written. It gave me a chance to take a trip through my memories since 2012 (the year I started blogging.) I enjoyed it and felt so full of gratitude. I have grown so much since then. This blog has seen me through my early twenties and into my early 30’s I am so thankful for all the beautiful souls I have met in this amazing blogging community. Thank you for being you and for following me along in my journey. Together we have laughed, cried, sent each other hugs through the sad times and the losses and have hugged and high fived through the wins ❤
Here are my weekly blog posts before I get into story time:

Last Saturday night I was missing my Grandma Alice and I discovered that she was born in Naalehu, Hawaii. This surprised me because I always knew that she grew up in Kona and that her family worked on the Kona coffee plantations. I guess I just assumed that she was born in Kona. Naalehu is in the Kau district near the southernmost point of the island near Ocean View. I wanted to do something the next day to remember her. Sunday was special because we made it to Kehena Black Sand Beach which is also known as the dolphin beach and the nude beach. As we were driving south I thought of my Grandma and I felt like I could feel her spirit in my heart. My eyes filled with tears as I saw the ocean in a distance next to the lava. They have a drum circle at Kehena every Sunday and when we were there hundreds of people were arriving. We walked down to the lookout and decided to head home after that. It was breathtakingly beautiful.
Christmas Eve was special. I woke up early and road on my airodyne bike for 45 minutes which is the longest I have ever gone. Our neighbors invited us to join their family on a drive to one of the geothermal pools. I was excited because I wanted to go for a Christmas swim, but read that the tide was high at all of my swimming spots in Hilo. We all got into our cars and my partner and I cranked up the music and followed our neighbors through the mystical Red Road.
The middle of the drive was very similar to the route we took to Kehena Beach, but we continued onto a part of the road that we had never seen. We finally arrived at the world’s newest sandy beach. I was so happy to be there. We had only visited Pohoiki once before in July (when I had a dream about my Grandma) and I have been wanting to go back ever since.
After walking through the black sand and admiring the monstrous waves we walked through a jungly area and found a private geothermal pool. I was sweating before I even stepped in. Once I got into the water it was the perfect temperature. This hot spring is affected by the waves of the ocean. Goddess Pele knows how to maintain the perfect temperature. The whole setting was surreal and it was nice that we had the entire lagoon to ourselves. Our neighbor’s kids are also exceptionally well-behaved.
After our beach adventure my partner and I headed towards home and to our surprise our favorite grocery store Island Naturals was open. We got some food then headed home. I had a burst of energy and even got my workout in! It felt so good!
We had a non-traditional Christmas that was spent relaxing and enjoying each other’s company. It was nice to relax, but I think I want to start picking up some Christmas traditions next year. I definitely felt a little sense of fomo mostly because we were far away from our families. We also didn’t get presents of eat any junk food (that part is good.) I took Christmas day off from my workout and also took the next day off too. I felt very sad on both days and maybe there is a correlation between the two. Last night I discovered that it was because it was that time of the month for me. That was honestly a relief for me because I hate feeling sad for what feels like for no reason.
Yesterday was exciting because I found out that I have officially graduated and completed my undergraduate degree!!! This is a dream come true for me ❤
“Clean out a corner of your mind and creativity will instantly fill it.”
- Plan ahead and prepare.
- Set Goals.
- Dream BIG.
- Sleep at night.
- Get an early start.
- Let go of everything that doesn’t bring you Joy.
Yikes, I honestly did not do much of this or follow any of these goals, but I was able to learn a lot about myself. I also had a lot of quality time with my lover and my cats and our neighbors. I am learning that relationships are precious and should be treasured. Of course, I know this, but socializing is still a stretch for me. I am an introvert who likes to recharge her batteries frequently. I think this year I will make it a point to make more time for adventures 🙂
