Workout and Word of the Day #2

Hello My Dear Darling Friends!

I am enjoying this new year and I hope that you are too.  I have been feeling strong throughout my workouts, but I have not yet managed to practice yoga yet other than my own occasional impromptu flows (I guess that counts too.)  I will just take things step by step and not stress too much.

Workout of the Day: 30 Minute Hiit with weights

I was dripping with sweat throughout this entire workout and it felt good.  This is the first time that I have done hiit with weights.  When I think of hiit I usually think of calisthenics and body weight exercises, but this was just as effective (maybe even more.)


Word of the Day:

lignin– noun

  1. An amorphous polymer related to cellulose that provides rigidity and together with cellulose forms the woody cell walls of plants and the cementing material between them.

Lately, I have been feeling like I do not have enough time to accomplish everything that I want to do.  My partner and I had a lovely day yesterday.  We drove to town for a walk and had an impromptu al fresca lunch with a beautiful view of the Bay.  When we got home we both worked on our reports, then went for a walk and ordered Thai food delivery.

I still wanted to do an hour of coding, my workout, and read for a few hours and my partner wanted to watch Dracula with me.  I almost wanted to put off my workout, but I knew that if I delayed it any longer it probably would not happen and I would have to move it to today (which is my rest day.) I did this workout and then we watched shows the rest of the evening.

I will do my coding today and am glad that it is my rest day.  I think I am going to like this new training schedule.  For the past 8 weeks I was working out on Monday-Friday and resting on Saturday and Sunday.  With my new program, my rest days are on Wednesday and Saturday.  I think that it is going to be better for me to not have more than one day in a row off.  I was getting kind of restless and even a little stiff before from the rest days.

  1. The split rest days sound good
    – and the word of the day reminds me of a talk I heard where they said the lignin’s in the grains are why we should not be eating them (something like that – it was a while back)

    1. Oh no. I hope you are feeling a little better on your first day back to work. Stay hydrated and get lots of rest. Steam yoga sounds heavenly. I love boiling water in a basin and adding some essential oils like eucalyptus and peppermint than putting a towel over my head and sweating with the steam. It helps to loosen up the congestion. I hope you will feel better.

      1. I hope you will rest well and wake up feeling better. I am doing well. I finally started my 100 days of code challenge where I commit to coding for at least 1 hr for 100 days. It took me a while to feel motivated to get started, but now I will hopefully have some momentum and maybe someday soon I will code for more than 1 hr. Baby steps, right?
