Workout and Word of the Day #12

Hello My Dear Darling Friends!

How is your week going?  This has been a good week for me.  I am caught up with work and we have been mulling over the possibility of taking a vacation in the near future.  As a business owner, it is often tricky to take time off from work.  Actually, in reality, it is probably easier to get the time off than it would be working a conventional 9-5; I just know that I often feel more guilty about taking time off since I run the show.

In all honesty, I think that time off is going to be more important than ever.  This is the first time that my partner and I are working together full-time.  We definitely make a great team, but I think it is important for us to experience more and talk about more than just our work and the businesses.

Workout of the Day: Standing abs, Yoga, & some dancing

15 Minute Standing Ab Workout:

I was honestly surprised by how much I was sweating throughout this short and sweet workout.  Some of these moves were challenging (and fun of course) there were even a few times that I had to take a break or modify the exercise.  I love quick and effective workouts like these and sometimes it is just nice to get core work without being on the ground.

25 Minute Total Body Yoga Stretch | Sean Vigue:

I haven’t done a Sean Vigue video since I was back in Scottsdale and I was pleasantly surprised to see him appear in my 90 day workout program.  I also have not been doing very much yoga lately and it felt good to slow down and stretch out my entire body.  That pigeon with a twist was NO JOKE!

I was a little bummed to find out that my shoulders are not as flexible as they used to be, but that is why it is even more important for me to stretch and practice consistently.  I think that swimming probably did wonders for my shoulder flexibility and it is probably time for me to start swimming again.

How to Hip Tick | Twerk Tutorial:

Nastynass is basically a twerking icon in the social media world.  This is probably one of the best tutorials I have seen for the hip tick.  I like how she broke it down into simple, easy to follow motions.  It actually ended up being an easier move than I used to think.

Music to practice with | Koshens- Turn Me On

I was thrilled to be able to do the Hip Tick with way more ease than before and it was so much fun to dance and let loose a little.  Later in the evening I felt so good and happy and I think dancing helped to bring out the joy and those good feelings.


Word of the Day:

atavism– noun

  1. Biology.  the reappearance in an individual of characteristics of some remote ancestor that has been absent in intervening generations.
  2. An individual embodying such a reversion.
  3. Reversion to an earlier type; throwback.
