Workout and Word of the Day #30

Hello My Dear Darling Friends!

Today I am feeling a million times better.  Our favorite coffee lady has returned after being out of town for a week.  It also felt really good to vent about the issues that were upsetting me.  I don’t experience intense anger very often, but when I do I stay upset for awhile and it gets hard for me to let it go.  This is something that I need to work on.  I want to thank my friends who reached out to me with your kind and encouraging words.

On Sunday I made the executive decision to switch things up.  I decided to hit “pause” on the 90 day workout program I have been doing and I have started round 2 of an 8 week program instead.  There are times in life when it is good to soldier through and push yourself to the end when you feel like giving up, but this time around I decided that I needed a change.  I lost momentum and felt like I wanted to start from the beginning.  The beginning of the same program would have honestly felt discouraging so I decided to start something new.

Workout of the Day: Yoga + Physical Fitness Testing

Awaken the Artist Within | Yoga with Adriene

I started my day with 5 minutes of meditation and followed it with yoga.  I am glad that my focus for the month of March is “finding peace.”  This is perfect timing for me because lately, I have been feeling tense and unsettled even though things are going well.

Cardio Warm-up:

Always remember to prepare your body for work with a good warm-up.  This will help you prevent injuries and get the most out of your workout.

Fitness Blender Physical Fitness Test:

The last time I took the Physical Fitness Test was at the end of December.  My 1 mile walk was faster than last time and I was able to reach 1/2 inch further on my sit and reach.  Yesterday I was only able to do 30 full push-ups with good form (whereas in December I did 50.) I did 165 squats instead of 365.  I probably could have done 365, but I got bored…  The static plank was a true struggle for me this time around.  In December I was able to hold a good plank for 1 minute and 12 seconds and yesterday I collapsed at 31 seconds.

I am not disappointed in my results and I am thankful for an effective way to measure what I need to work on.  I have not been doing much core work and my workouts felt  a little more skewed these past 3 months.  I have learned that I like having a little more structure when it comes to my workouts.

Word of the Day:

dilettante– noun

  1. A person who takes up an art, activity, or subject merely for amusement, especially in a desultory or superficial way; dabbler.
  2. A lover of an art or science, especially of a fine art.

Thanks for joining me for another workout and word of the day!  I am looking forward to making more progress!

❤ Alana
