Birthday Adventures + 2020 Happiness Project Week #35

Hello My Dear Darling Friends!

My heart is full and my cup is cascading over the brim! I feel so thankful for everything that I have right here and now. Lately, when I write these weekly posts, I almost feel like I am bragging and maybe in some ways I am, but I post a ton of pictures and share my stories and experiences to connect with others. I spent years of my life struggling with the present moment and I am so happy to be right here right now enjoying the present moment.

Let’s kick off our little catch-up session with some good news! Last week, I mentioned that our Quail eggs are being sold at Island Naturals! This week we saw our eggs on the shelf!

This is another major milestone for us! To be selling our quail eggs at the food co-op

This week, I met with a local girl to buy a swim suit dress cover up. We quickly became friends and I decided to gift here with a dozen quail eggs. My heart felt warm when she posted on her social media about it and told me that it made her day!

So happy to share!

I started my Summer Fitness Challenge with my new personal trainer / coach Nettie and I cannot believe how perfect the timing is. This was my last week of being 31 and I made a promise to myself that I would really start living that life I always dreamed of. I have been thinking of hiring a personal trainer and / or a nutritionist for a long time now. There are so many free resources and a world of information out there, but I was getting overwhelmed. I wanted something specific to my goals and needs to that I could feel healthy and strong in my body.

I have a lot of friends who are personal trainers (they are all excellent), but I think I wanted to work with someone who didn’t know me before. I also wanted to work with a strong and independent young woman who is spending her days making this world a better place. I have been following Nettie for a few months now and she inspires me. She is also a grad student at the University that I graduated from. When I saw that she was offering her summer challenge at such an affordable rate I decided to jump at the opportunity and I am so glad that I did!

This is the 1st time that I have invested in a custom meal plan and I highly recommend it. There’s nothing like knowing exactly what and how much you should be eating to support your goals. Also, her workouts are absolutely killer!

The day before my birthday, my friend Ellie said that we should go to the beach to celebrate my birthday. My first reaction was to say, “that sounds like fun, but we are still social distancing.” It’s true, we have not been around people at all and never without masks. I decided to live a little and said, “yes! Let’s do it!” Ellie, Armani, and their friend Lexi were safe people to be around because we live on the same property (they are our renters) and we have all been following the quarantine rules.

I was super indecisive and trying to decide between Papakolea Green Sand Beach or Shipman’s / Haena Beach. I was definitely leaning towards Green Sands and Ellie suggested that we take the truck and go off-roading, but I also felt drawn towards Shipman’s. Shipman’s is right in our neighborhood and we have heard so many of the locals say that it is the very best sandy beach on the East side of the island.

That night, I decided that we would hike to Shipman’s on the morning of my birthday. I got super excited and started putting together fun party favor bags for everyone (there might have been some herb in there too 🙂 I had lots of happy helpers!

We got an early start on my birthday morning and set off on a grand adventure!

My boyfriend also gifted me with a brand new Samsung S20 which was such a nice surprise! This allowed me to take even better pictures!

We had the ENTIRE beach to ourselves!
This place is just heavenly. There is no filter on this picture!

We went on a beautiful muddy hike through the tropical rainforest right along the coast. There were coconut trees galore and so many beautiful plants. I loved going on this adventure with my friends!

This place is so magical!
I love our grand adventures!
Lava and Light
The beach was right around the bend from here!
We were so thrilled to finally arrive!

My birthday beach celebration was an absolute dream come true! I’m so happy that I decided to step out of my comfort bubble and Live Out Loud a little more! It was worth-it!

Thank you for another trip around the sun!
And who doesn’t love hiking with no pants on?!?!

  • Quit nagging. I have to say that I really benefited from focusing on love this month. It really got me to take my eyes off of myself and nurture my relationship.
  • Listen. I have become a much better listener.
  • Cultivate healthy relationships. Yes! I even got to revisit some of my old friendships and made new friends too!
  • No complaining. This makes a huge difference. Of course, I always have complaints every now and then.
  • Give proofs of love. Yes 🙂

Here is this week’s blog post before I forget:

10 Years Since My Escape

I am so thankful that a decade has passed and time and experience have healed my heart. My life has been so full of blessings that I almost forgot that this anniversary was coming. This is a beautiful change because it used to constantly haunt me –the fact that I was a victim of domestic violence and abuse who had fought to become a survivor.

On the night before the 29th I could not sleep and I couldn’t figure out why. The next morning it hit me that it was an anniversary day. I burst into tears and told my partner why I was so sad and he held and comforted me while I cried. I knew that it would be good for me to cry and let it go even more.

I wrote a journal entry about it, polished it, then turned it into that blog post. I love the fact that I can write about it more elegantly without sharing all the gory and painful details. That is another sign of healing and growth.

Let’s take a look at September’s goals, shall we?!?!

“Don’t be afraid of your fears.  They are not there to scare you.  They are there to let you know something is worth-it.”

  • Create a bucketlist (my year truly begins in September) Okay! I want to actually do this! I will write a post about it soon!
  • Make time. Yes! Let’s make time for the important things in life.
  • Forget about the results. Amen to this one! I want to fall in love with the process.
  • Live passionately. Yes! Yes! YES!!!
  • Master a new technology. September always inspires me to be more studious. I think it is time for me to complete a tutorial. I am also starting to think about pursuing a masters’ degree, but I don’t know what to study yet.

What are your September goals? Please comment below to share!

Be Real. Be True. Be-YOU-tifully YOU!

This is my Happiness Project, but the funny thing is that I am learning that transforming my life sure helps me to be more happy. There are some years that I have done a Transform Your Life Project. I am overjoyed that I am getting the best of both worlds with this project! I hope you had a wonderful week! What is new and exciting in your world? Please comment below to chat!
