Hello My Dear Darling friends!
Oh, today is Friday! That happened fast 🙂 I am thankfully in less pain and in higher spirits today. Rest and recovery really pays off when you are nursing an injury and I am glad that I decided to take this time.
In fact, I decided to create a deadline for myself. I am going to rest from running until Tuesday and then I will check in to see how I am feeling. If the pain has gone away then maybe I will start running again.
Making this compromise with myself has made all the difference in the world. Now I can focus more on what I CAN do rather than what I can’t.
Today’s Workout of the day is: Back, Lower abs, & headstand for beginners
Lazy Girl Full body workout (no jumping) | Vicky Justiz
This was a fun workout that served as a nice warm up and even got me sweating a little.
10 Minute Back Workout | Pamela Reif
Wow! This felt like the longest 10 minutes ever! I think Pamela Reif is going to be one of my new favorite trainers. She has a no-nonsense approach with fun music and no chatter at all. Also, her cues are on point and really helpful!
10 Minute Lower Ab Workout | Pamela Reif
WOW! This one really burned. The movements were simple, fun, and challenging. That’s gotta be the BEST combination ever. Try this one I think you’ll like it!
Head stand Yoga Pose for Beginners | Yoga with Adriene
In the spirit of focusing on the things that I can do; I am using this recovery time as an opportunity to challenge and strengthen my body. I want to go back to the basics and explore some of those yoga poses that I have never been able to do.
But I want to learn how to do them correctly and Adriene is my go-to online instructor when it comes to practicing yoga. I made it through 10 minutes of this video and then I had to bow out gracefully, but I plan on revisiting this practice consistently.
The last thing that I want to do is injure myself practice something that is supposed to bring healing so I am going slowly and listening to my body.
Today’s Word of the day is:
vulcanize-verb
- To treat crude of synthetic rubber or similar plastic material with chemicals to give it useful properties (such as elasticity, strength, and stability.)
I like this word a lot and think that I need to vulcanize my bones, joints, muscles, and whole body 😝 Now wouldn’t that be nice?
What are your plans for today? I am going to get my work reports going then clean and package some quail eggs for a delivery to our local health food store. From there we will get some lunch and then I will do a workout. I already miss running, but I know that this recovery period is crucial to my overall health (mentally and physically.)
I hope you will have a wonderful weekend, my friends! See you next time.
❤ Alana
